Bigger and more beautiful — ISE 2025 in review

By all measures, ISE 2025 resoundingly surpassed ISE 2024. While some may think only of the show itself, ISE is actually a whole lot more. So much happens around the event — in the days ahead of the show and after the show each evening. It’s normally an invigorating experience, but this year it was doubly so with our channel, customer and ecosystem activities and meetings.

Here are some of the highlights.

Our connected demos were a hit

These demos, connecting live with our office in Canada, were core to the experience we shared with the visitors to our stand. Not only were attendees impressed with the clarity and quality of the pickup as our team of two moved around the large demo space, they were also impressed that our staff would get up at 2 a.m. ET to be in the office for a 3 a.m. (9 a.m. CET) start.

For anyone who might have had questions about our Microphone Mist technology performance, this demo, under the harsh conditions of a trade show, quickly settled the point. Visitors to our stand consistently remarked on the intelligibility of the pickup as our staff moved around the space.

Simplicity rules

If there was a favorite word that we heard from customers and channel alike, it was simplicity. Gone are the days of bespoke configurations in the majority of large and extra-large spaces for many organizations. Customers know that most of their spaces can be configured with off-the-shelf reference designs, because they’re already doing just that or they want to do it.

Also factoring in the conversation was the ease with which rooms could be installed and deployed. Having rooms automatically and continuously self-calibrate was high on the list of must-haves.

AV is IT

While in the past we’ve seen movement toward the marriage of AV and IT, it now seems that virtually every conversation is about AV being part of the IT organization. This, more than almost anything else, is changing the way that higher education and corporations are thinking about their room solutions.

The perspectives that AV people can bring to the table are highly valued, but the voice of IT is now strongly driving toward simple, repeatable, manageable deployments. There’s synergy in the merging of perspectives.

Room refreshes are top of mind

Many conversations started off the same way: “We set up our meeting rooms/classrooms during COVID. Now, everything is out of warranty. We’re planning a refresh.”

In some cases, budgets (or lack thereof) may constrain the speed with which the room refreshes take place. But refreshing spaces with the latest and greatest was on the minds of many at ISE. We heard about both wholesale refreshing — starting from scratch to evaluate solutions — and piecemeal upgrades, which plug and play compatibility makes possible.

Multiple cameras are being added to rooms

While there was a lot of interest in our announcement about sound location data from our systems controlling camera views in 2024, we talked to a lot of people who have deployed or are now starting to deploy multiple cameras in classrooms and large meeting rooms. It’s still early stages for many organizations, but deployments and experiments continue as IT managers look to add value to the remote-user experience.

HETMA is going global

It was great to see HETMA (the Higher Education Technology Managers Alliance) in full force at ISE to announce their global expansion. HETMA has largely been focused on the United States but, with their presence at ISE, they’re now recruiting an international membership. This is a great move for them as the cross-pollination of ideas from one country or region to another can only be a benefit to members. This expansion means that members will have greater access to others who may have faced or are facing similar challenges, allowing for more broad-based collaboration and sharing.

We’re proud to be HETMA supporters and to have our products HETMA approved.
